Thumbprint heart

I saw a card on Pinterest that was made with your significant others thumbprint and your own thumbprint. So I took the idea and bought a mini canvas and mini easel from Joann's. It is a simple craft with a lot of meaning. My BF is my true love and my best friend. This small symbol adds just a little more love to home. His is on the left and mine is on the right.

BBQ beef sandwiches

Tonight I made a super easy and yummy recipe from Budget Savvy Diva. You take a roast, onion, garlic, salt and pepper and BBQ sauce. I added some worcestershire sauce. Throw it all in a crock pot and let it cook. So easy and delicious.

Navajo tacos on fry bread.

Tonight's dinner was really good. The tacos are easy to make and full of flavor. We added a little extra of the seasonings to make it a little spicer. The fry bread was delicious and it was easy to make. I highly recommend this recipe for a flavorful dinner.

Potato chowder

Tonight for dinner I made a crockpot potato chowder I found on Pinterest form food.com. This recipe is easy to make and inexpensive. That's the good side. The bad side is even topped with bacon, sour cream, pepper jack cheese and green onions it lacked flavor. The BF and I could not decide what it needed exactly but some sort of spice is what we are thinking. We will more than likely try it again sometime and decide on what it needs.

It will be fun to experiment with it.

Smoothie and homemade Chinese food.

Saturday was chaos. I had time to do pin just not the time to post it. Anyways, on Saturday I made a cold buster smoothie. It is one of my favorites. I have made a few times before. I found a while back when I had a cold and made it one time when a friend's kids had cold as well. It has lots of vitamin c in it.
http://backtoherroots.com/2011/02/17/thirsty-thursday-cold-buster-smoothie/

For today's pin the bf and I made homemade Chinese food. The first pin is general tao's chicken from budget savvy diva. I am telling you her blog is great. This chicken was really good. I had to make a couple of substitutions. The first was the Thai peppers we used a Thai chili paste instead and we also added red peppers. It was yummy.
http://www.budgetsavvydiva.com/2012/06/78629/

The second pin we made was homemade ham fried rice. It is super easy to make and tastes yummy. We add extra Thai chili sauce to spice it up. We really like spicy food around our house. This recipe is quick, easy and yummy a major win.

Ribbon crafts.

Today I made a DIY bangle bracelet made from an empty ribbon spool. You cover it with ribbon and then you have a bangle bracelet. I took it a step further and added a ribbon flower. So today i actually did you boards from my craft ideas board.

Lip scrub

Tonight I made a simple and cheap lip scrub. It requires sugar, honey, Vaseline and olive oil. It took me maybe 2 minutes to make. I buy almost of the ingredients at Costco so it was ultra cheap to make. I used it tonight and my lips were soft after.
The original pin didn't give instructions on how to use the scrub so I found another bloggers site with the same scrub and with instructions.

Of course I took a pic. It's the two yellow containers.
Also tonight I re-made the lip tint and it is much better with the regular Vaseline. It's the pink container.

Sequins, styrofoam and pins.

For today's pin I took styrofoam balls, straight pins and sequins and made decorations for a vase I have. I did red, black and silver. They are good valentines day and also the color minus the silver of the Utah Utes! The tricky part of this craft is pinning the sequins on. It is time consuming. The pins aren't cheap no matter where I looked. I used a coupon at Joann's and that made them half price. Also used some from Walgreens but the ones from Joann's were better. The vase I have is also a DIY craft. I made it year or so ago. The vase is upper cheap because you can find the stuff at the dollar store. However mine was free since it came from a craft group where my friend Katie did it as her craft one time. I am thinking for the future of making some different colored balls for different holidays. Even the BF thought they look kinda cool.
The original pin was for ornaments. You can find a ton of pins for this on Pinterest. I couldn't find the one I originally pinned but this link shows the idea. I used cheaper styrofoam balls that I got for free at work.

A full meal

Tonight for dinner I made 3 pins.
The first is skinny lasagna rolls from Skinnytaste one of my favorite blogs.
http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/02/spinach-lasagna-rolls.html
These are yummy and easy.

The second pin is for breadsticks that are similar to those served at Olive Garden. They actually taste a lot like theirs. They were soft and had a great flavor.
http://fullbellies.blogspot.com/2011/05/homemade-olive-garden-bread-sticks.html?m=1

The last pins is for pretzel cookies. The cookies were okay. A nice great but the greatest ever or anything. They are pretty easy to make and not to expensive.

Lip tint

Tonight I made my own lip tint. It's made with petroleum jelly and crystal light. It's is cheap and easy to make. I accidentally grabbed a scented Vaseline. Not the best. I think with regular Vaseline would be much better. I still tried it and it looks good. Due to the extremely cold weather my lips have been dry and sore. This would be better if my lips were not in this condition. So I'll think I will get the right petroleum jelly and try it again. I used raspberry lemonade crystal light. I also got my small containers at Joann's in the paint section. They ended up being inexpensive with a 50% off coupon.

Quiche

When we woke up this morning we were going to have ham, eggs and whatever else for breakfast when the BF had a great idea lets make a quiche. So after hunting pinterest for a recipe that we liked enough we found a simple recipe and added mushrooms and red pepper to it. It was awesome. The recipe is basic which is nice because then you can add whatever you want. We also used pepper jack cheese since that's what we had. Cheap crafty Mama is the blog I found the recipe on. While on the blog there are some other great ideas, so worth checking out the blog. http://cheapcraftymama.com/spinach-and-ham-quiche/

Meal planning printable

Today's pin is a printable that I have been using for a while now. We went shopping tonight and this printable keeps us organized. The printable is free, always awesome. I put it in a transparent sleeve and use dry erase markers so i only needed to print one. We have been planning our meals every week and have decreased our grocery bill drastically. I love to be organized even though I am not always the best at it. :)Here is the link to Life in yellow's blog.  http://www.lifeinyellow.com/2012/03/meal-planning-and-a-free-download/

This is a pic of my organizer on the fridge where we can write down whatever we need.

Workout for a snowy day

Today in SLC it has been snowing and the roads are terrible. So the BF and I decided to do an at home workout. I went through my lets get physical board and found a great workout that requires nothing but your body. We are trying to get back into working out so we weren't able to do all of it but you have to start somewhere. We are going to work pour way up to the whole workout.

Facial cleanser

Today I went to a cardio kickboxing class that was awesome but when I got home I didn't have time to do much in the way of pins. So for today I am going to do the facial cleanser that I have been doing for about a week now. It easy to make and is not to pricey. I think it has helped my face a lot. It has oil in it and lately I have read a couple of things about how cleaning your face with oil is beneficial. This cleanser is from The Prairie Cottage.

Fringe Scarf

Today's pin is for a DIY fringe scarf made out of an old t-shirt. I used a thin cotton tee from old navy that was pretty old and stretched out. It did not work to well. I think a heavy cotton and not stretched out would work best. It still wasn't that bad and my BF said it looked good. I also did not have the best scissors.  You can judge for yourself. It took me only a few minutes which is always nice and its a recycled craft.

Yummy salsa

Tonight's pin was a guacamole salsa that was really good. I put it on the chicken lime tacos we had tonight and with homemade tortillas. It would be great with just chips. It was easy to make in my food processor and didn't cost an arm and a leg to make. Another great pin.

3 days worth

Yikes I always get behind on weekends. Weekends end up always being so busy for me!  Lets start with Friday 1-4-2013
On Friday I did an at home spa day for myself so I tried many of my pins on my head to toes board. However i am only going to spotlight one for that day. I really liked this easy lemon sugar scrub from onegoodthingbyjillee.com. it is the bottom of the page. It was a good scrub easy to make and very inexpensive. All three of those things make this scrub an A+ pin for me.
Here is the link: http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/07/make-your-own-simple-exfoliating-body.html

For Saturday 1-5-2013 I made a lemon Tea Bread Recipe that I pinned. On Saturday two of my awesome friends hosted a Ladies Tea Party at their house. This bread was soft full of flavor and easy to make. Again an A+ pin for me. It was yummy!

For Today Sunday 1-6-2013 I bought the Sworkit circuit training app for my ipad and iphone. This app is just what I need. I pick the type of workout, the area I want to work on and how much time I have and the app provides a workout for you. I can not wait to use this app this week!

What a workout!

Today the pin I did was a Zumba video that is a full class and is free on you tube. It kicked my butt. Not only have I not done zumba in a while I haven't been working out like I should be. I found it to be fun even though I was at home and I worked up a sweat. The guy teaching the class is fun and is great at the moves. Here is the link:

Awesome free find on pinterest! And what a workout!

A pin a day

I am going to do a pin a day from all of the pinterest pins I have pinned. I figured I have so many that I need to start doing them.  Today 1-1-2013 pin is:

http://pinterest.com/pin/287878601152749098/

It is a mug recipe for a brownie. It is a nice treat for myself with very little mess. It actually tastes pretty good. It wasn't the best way to start off my new year weight loss challenge but oh well. Sometimes a girl needs some chocolate.
